NEW ORLEANS - A day after helping the Green Wave cap a 2-0 week, Tulane University women's basketball standout Chassity Brown was named Louisiana Co-Player of the Week by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.

A senior guard from Shreveport, La., Brown picked up the honor after averaging 21.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.0 steals and 2.0 0assists per game. She led the team in scoring in both of the Green Wave's wins, tallying a combined 42 points during Tulane's 76-72 win at South Florida on Thursday and an 84-51 whipping of Stephen F. Austin on Sunday.

For the week, Brown hit 44.8 percent of her shots from the field (13-of-29), 45.5 percent of her 3-point attempts (5-of-11) and 100 percent of her free throws (11-of-11). During Tulane's come-from-behind win at South Florida, she had 19 pints after canning five baskets, including two 3-pointers, and all seven of her free throw opportunities. Against Stephen F. Austin, Brown tied a career high with 23 points after hitting 8-of-12 shots, 3-of-5 treys and all four free throws.

The honor did not come solely for her play on offense, however, as Brown tallied six steals in the win over the Bulls and recorded four thefts against the Ladyjacks. She also had a pair of assists in each ballgame and nine total rebounds for the weekend - two at South Florida and seven against Stephen F. Austin.

For the season, Brown leads the team in points (127), points per game (14.1), minutes played (279) and minutes per game (31.0) while ranking second in on the squad in assists (32) and steals (28), and third in both rebounds (30) and rebounds per game (3.3). She ranks second in Conference USA in steals per game (3.1), tied for seventh in minutes per game (31.1), eighth in assists per game (3.6), tied for eighth in 3-pointers made per game (1.8), ninth in scoring average (14.1) and 3-point field goal percentage (.400) and 12th in free throw percentage (.852).
