NEW ORLEANS, La. - - Tulane All-American Grace Daley has been named the Conference USA Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Daley, a native of Ocala, Fla., earned Player of the Week honors after recording 33 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and two steals while committing just one turnover in 35 minutes of action in Tulane's win over Texas A&M. The 33 points also moved her into second place on the Conference USA career scoring charts (1,707 pts.). She connected on 63.2 percent of her shots from the floor (12-of-19), including 50.0 percent of her three-point attempts (3-of-6). She finished 6-of-8 from the free throw line (75.0 percent).
Monday's honor marked the fourth time that Daley, the Conference USA Preseason Player of the Year, has been named C-USA Player of the Week. She was selected as the league's top player on Dec. 14, 1998, Feb. 9, 1998 and Feb. 17, 1997, making her the only player in Conference USA history to earn the recognition in four consecutive seasons. Daley is currently averaging a league-best 25.0 points per game as well as 7.2 rebounds per contest. She has yet to score fewer than 20 points in any of Tulane's first six games, helping lead the Green Wave to a perfect 6-0 record to start the season.
Tulane returns to action on Monday night, as the Green Wave play host to SMU at Fogelman Arena. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
