NEW ORLEANS, La. - - - The Tulane women's basketball team continues exhibition action on Saturday, as the Green Wave play host to the Mississippi All-Stars at Fogelman Arena. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
The Mississippi All-Stars enter the weekend 0-3, but play Memphis Friday night. The All-Stars began the exhibition season with a 94-82 loss to Alabama before dropping an 89-52 decision to Mississippi State. The squad also lost at Florida State, 78-73.
The Green Wave enter Saturday's preseason scrimmage fresh off a 103-92 victory over the Houston Jaguars last Friday. Junior center Janell Burse led the Green Wave with 34 points, 16 rebounds and four blocked shots in the win, while senior Fabrecia Roberson added 18 points and eight rebounds.
Saturday's contest is Tulane's final preseason exhibition before the Green Wave begins the regular season with a Nov. 19 contest at Siena. The Wave enter the 1999-00 campaign, its 25th of intercollegiate play, as the defending Conference USA regular season and tournament champions after winning both titles for the second time in three seasons this spring. Tulane is looking for its sixth consecutive berth in the NCAA Tournament after finishing last season with an impressive 24-6 record.
Following Saturday's exhibition, the Wave travel to take on Siena before opening the home portion of its schedule with a Nov. 26 meeting with UNC Asheville.
