NEW ORLEANS - It was a little after 6 on Sunday evening in the Hertz Center when a familiar sound echoed through the spacious practice facility as the Tulane University women's basketball team held its first full-team practice of the 2013-14 season.

With all 11 scholarship players on the court at the same time, the squeaks of sneakers changing directions and the thud of dribbled balls reverberated throughout the building, which was music to head coach Lisa Stockton's ears.

"I think we're ready for the challenge of a new season," Stockton said. "We lost four seniors that had a tremendous impact on our program and won't have a senior class this year. We have a lot of players returning and we'll take this time to figure out who is going to play some important roles as we get closer to the start of the regular season."

Tulane returns three starters among seven letterwinners from last year's squad, which finished 24-9 overall, tied for second in the regular-season Conference USA standings with an 11-5 league record, and advanced to the round of 16 in the 2013 WNIT to become the first Green Wave squad to advance to the third round of a postseason tournament in program history.

While the Wave will have to replace graduated seniors Olivia Grayson, Janique Kautsky, Brittany McDonald and Tyria Snow, and Tulane won't have a senior on the roster until the 2014-15 campaign, the team is not without experience. The five rising juniors - Danielle Blagg, Tiffany Dale, Adesuwa Ebomwonyi, Jamie Kaplan and Katye Magee - accounted for 49 percent of the team's blocks, 47 percent of the rebounds, 41 percent of both the points and assists, and 36 percent of the steals from a year ago.

In addition, Tulane welcomes back rising sophomores Chinwe Duru and Tierra Jones and returns the services of center Morgan Rogers, who redshirted as a true freshman last season. Tulane added three high school standouts in guards Courtnie Latham and Leslie Vorpahl, as well as forward Paije Hall.

The Green Wave open the season on Friday, Nov. 8, when they play host to the University of New Orleans at 6 p.m. in Devlin Fieldhouse. That contest is the first half of a Tulane double-header as the men's team will square off against New Jersey Institute of Technology at approximately 8 p.m.

Season tickets to the 2013-14 Tulane women's basketball home slate are $100 for floor seats, $85 for side-court seating and $50 for seats along the baseline.
