Former Tulane women's basketball player Sherri [Fuqua] Retif will coach the girls' East squad in at the 2008 McDonald's® All American Games Wednesday night. Retif, who played for Tulane from 1978-1982 was inducted into the Tulane Athletics Hall of Fame in 1998. The McDonald's All American Games tip-off in Milwaukee on Wednesday with coverage on ESPNU.
Retif is currently in her 10th season as the head coach of Germantown Academy in Fort Washington, Pa. During her tenure, the Patriots have captured Philadelphia's Inter-Academic Championship each year. The team finished 26-3 during its 2006-2007 season, with a national ranking of 19th from Sports Illustrated.
The Slidell native is 12th all-time in scoring for Tulane with 1,185 career points in 104 games (11.4 PPG). She also ranks sixth all-time in assists with 380 (3.65 per game).
Off the court, Retif chairs the Advisory Board for The Center for Sport and Spirituality at Neumann College and co-authored the book, "More Than a Game." Retif and her husband Stan have two sons, Bender and Cameron.
The seventh-annual Girls Game will begin at 6:00 p.m. CT and will broadcast live on ESPNU. The 31st Boys Game will follow the Girls Game at 8:30 p.m. CT and will air live on ESPN. Both events will take place at the Bradley Center.
