NEW ORLEANS, La. - - Tulane's Janell Burse added another piece of hardware to her growing collection this season, as she was named an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press on Wednesday.

Burse has now been honored as an All-American by two different organizations this season. In addition to her honorable mention status from the AP, Burse was also named a fourth-team All-American by the Women's Basketball Journal.

A native of New Orleans, Burse was a first-team All-Conference USA pick and was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the Conference USA Tournament after leading the Green Wave to its second consecutive team title and third in four seasons. She was also named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year, picking up the honor for the second straight season.

Burse heads into the NCAA Tournament ranked among the national leaders in four statistical categories. She is currently 24th in scoring, 23rd in rebounding, 10th in field goal percentage and 11th in blocked shots.

Tulane begins play in its sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament, as the sixth-seeded Green Wave will face 11th-seeded Vermont in the first round at Lubbock, Texas. Saturday's game between the Green Wave and the Catamounts is set for a 6 p.m. CST tip off.
