On the matchup between Tulane and UTEP
"First of all, this is always a great matchup. It'll be the last time UTEP is here (with us) as a Conference USA member, and they're playing really well. They're one of the hottest teams in the league and this is certainly going to be a great challenge for us."
On facing a Miners team that leads C-USA in both points and rebounds per game
"When you look at conference play, I definitely think their rebounds are what have been significant for them - getting more than one shot. They get a lot of offensive rebounds per game and that will be our challenge. We have to keep them off the offensive boards and limit them to one shot."
On the weapons UTEP has at its disposal
"They have different players that can score. In the last game, they shot very, very well from the field. They have some 3-point shooters and, again, what they're going to do is they're going to play fast. They're going to get up and down the court in their fast break and really try and play fast. For us, we have to control the tempo."
On Tulane being 6-1 in C-USA play and the way her team has played of late
"We've done a good job of taking every game for what it is and approaching every game separately. We've been very focused. We've certainly had some adversity with foul trouble and different things throughout the game, but our team has found a way to win. I'm very happy with how we're playing down in the last four or five minutes of the game. We've been very tough at that point so we've got to keep riding that and hope that we can continue to do so."
On being home after a long road trip to Rice earlier in the week
"It's good to be home. It was actually a pretty uneventful week at Rice because we left so early, but I think we're excited. One of the things for our team is we know that UTEP is a really good program and our players get up to play them. It really can be one of the best games of the year."
On the importance of having a good crowd for tomorrow's home game against UTEP
"I think it's huge. This is a big game for us. We talking about trying to get one of those top seeds and UTEP is going to be in there. Trying to get in there with a UTEP or a Middle Tennessee, it's really important that we do well tomorrow. Obviously, we feed off the energy of our fans and it would be great if we get a great atmosphere."
On the importance of each game as the C-USA schedule is set up to play 14 of the 15 league foes just once each
"It is, especially against a team of this caliber. You know some of these teams will be at the top and you only get one chance at them. If you have a chance to beat them and it comes down to head-to-head, you can move go of them. It's a big game and I think both teams will be really excited for it. It's going to be a nice matchup."
On the keys to tomorrow's game
"It's really two things. We've already talked about rebounding. It comes down to rebounding - rebounding on our end and making sure that they don't. The other thing is controlling the pace. We have to get back in transition and not give them easy baskets."
