On Wednesday's game against East Carolina
"I certainly think the whole week is big for us, but we feel good that we started off 2-0. We played very well against Old Dominion. We've got a team coming in that is 13-2, is playing really well and is shooting very well. It'll certainly be a challenge for us. Last year, they did a tremendous job against us. They were very physical, so we're going to have to be ready to play."
On if she is worried about a letdown after her team played perhaps its best game of the year on Saturday at Old Dominion
"I feel it is something that we can build on. Part of this game is confidence and being able to get your confidence going throughout the season. Our players feel good about how we played and we want to come back and repeat that. Hopefully we can build off of that confidence."
On coming back home with a 2-0 mark in a pair of Conference USA road games
"It's nice to be back home. Obviously we're in class and back on a regular schedule, which really can help us. This is a big week. These two teams are very good and we can really establish ourselves in the conference if we can handle this."
On the matchup between her team and the Pirates
"They are very efficient scorers and they've got a couple of players who are tremendously efficient. The other thing we have to be ready for is how physical they are on defense. They're going to come and really defend us and be very physical. They've got great size so they're not easy to shoot over, so we're going to have to create our own shots."
On the progress her team has made so far this season
"They're doing a good job. Coming off our last game, I think some players are really stepping up. The important thing for us is consistency. We have to keep those players playing those same roles. Again, you've got somebody like Adesuwa [Ebomwonyi] who is rebounding well, playing the perimeter and the post, and is doing a great job with it. She's got to continue doing that no matter what kind of opponent we play."
On Leslie Vorpahl claiming her second C-USA Freshman of the Week honor and her impact on the team to date
"I think Leslie's play had a lot to do with how well we did last week. She really is a player that you have to guard. She can create off the bounce. She does a lot of things. She finds people. If you look at her assist-to-turnover ratio from this past weekend, it was very impressive for a freshman. We need that other player in there that can hit those shots and create shots."
On the continued solid play of juniors Jamie Kaplan and Tiffany Dale
"They're really important for us. Jamie is really that floor general for us. She's doing a super job of creating shots and making shots. When you look at what she's done with double-doubles in assists and points, that's tough to do. Tiffany Dale, I see her get confidence every game. She's always been a great defensive player for us, but now on the offensive end, she's turning into a go-to player for us."
