Head Coach Lisa Stockton
Overall thoughts on the game
"I was really happy with our intensity, especially in that first half. First off, we shared the ball a lot. We had 17 assists on 19 field goals, and that's the sign of a very unselfish team. Defensively, we really locked them down and took their leading scorers out of the game. You saw us running quite a bit. We got some easy buckets and it was good to see us playing with a lot of confidence."
On her comment yesterday that the trip to Florida was good for the team and if that carried over into today's game
"I think so. We played very aggressively, we played very comfortably and, again, as a team I think we're really starting to gel. One of our goals was to build on where we were in Florida and I think we did that today."
On being able to rest some of her key players late in the game with another game scheduled for tomorrow
"When you can do that, it really helps because this is going to be a tough game. Not playing someone 30-plus minutes really helps. We got great contribution from our bench. When you do that, it's easier to accomplish it."
On holding Northeastern's Jewel Tunstull in check most of the game
"Our posts were aggressive on offense. I think Tierra (Jones) was really aggressive on offense. We drew some fouls. Also, we doubled her on defense, which really frustrated her and she had to pass the ball to someone else to score."
On getting major contributions from several players in the win
"We had a lot of great play today. What's really special about this group is that we're not surprised by that. Different players can come in and do that. When you see the players with those kinds of rebounding numbers, that says a lot about different players being able to contribute."
Junior Guard Danielle Blagg
On posting her third-straight 20-point ballgame
"I couldn't have done it without the assists from my teammates. It was a team effort all the way around."
On the way the team was able to run out to a big lead early
"I think we've really come together since that Florida tournament. Coming in with that confidence from Florida and those two wins is really motivating us to do well in this tournament."
On getting a big lead and maintaining it throughout, unlike last week's contests
"We just kind of held our foot to their throat. We didn't want to let it go."
Sophomore Forward Tierra Jones
On her career-high 14-point performance today against Northeastern
"I just happened to be in the right spot at the right time. We have great passers on our team and I just knew that if I worked hard, they would find me and I was able to hit the shots."
On Tulane holding a 49-36 advantage in rebounding and the team's defensive effort
"For us, the intensity today on defense was really contagious. We started out by talking and it got contagious. Everybody wanted to be a part of it. We really built on each other defensively."
On the importance of potentially winning another Tulane/DoubleTree Classic title
"It's important. We definitely want to get this for Coach this season. It would be a really good way for us to finish up our non-conference play."
