HEAD COACH Lisa Stockton
Overall thoughts on the game
"I think we did a good job. In the first half, we didn't play well at all. I thought we were really sluggish and not real aggressive. In the second half, we came out, put some full-court pressure on them to create some steals and get our offense going. We were much more aggressive offensively and I think the difference in the rebounds were really key. We gave them one shot and done and I thought we defended them well. I didn't think we gave them a lot of open looks. When it got down to three minutes left in the game, we have a five-point lead which is the same as we had the other day. I thought we did a much better job of playing with confidence in those last three minutes than we did against Lafayette.
On if Wednesday's loss helped Tulane push itself when it was down against North Texas
"I think every game you play and every experience you have - whether it's good or bad - really does help you. Lafayette played really well the other night, but we know we let some opportunities get away. Tonight, we were in the same situation and didn't let them get away. I was glad to see the team respond like that instead of maybe overthinking."
On the emergence of redshirt-sophomore forward Whitney Bibbins
"First of all, it doesn't surprise me because Whitney is that kind of player. I love to see her playing with this kind of confidence. She's had two tremendous games of being so aggressive and she's getting so much from her rebounding. She's not just scoring on the offense, but she's rebounding and putting it in. On defense, she's getting steals and being able to convert those. All of her game on both ends of the floor have really emerged."
On Tulane being in the midst of a six-game home stretch
"We've got to look at it like we've got three non-conference games left and then we're in the heat of the conference where every game really, really counts. Each time that we're challenged, it's going to help us. The DoubleTree (Classic) is something that we take great pride in. We've had a lot of wins in the DoubleTree and I think we've got a great line-up this year. Sometimes it's more fun to have two games in a tournament and have a championship, and I think our kids are excited for that. We're looking forward to it."
On what Coach Stockton told the team when they were down in the second half
"She pretty much just stressed how important it was for us to just pick up the intensity. We needed to pick it up. We needed to pick up our defense. We needed to focus on all of the little things that we didn't do right in the past game and fix that for this game. We did tie it up so we figured we'd just have to buckle down and play the rest of it good."
On the team bouncing back from Wednesday's loss to UL-Lafayette
"You just have to forget about it, but you also have to learn from your mistakes. In practice this week, we knew we had to fix the little things that we didn't do in the other game. Tonight, we just picked it up."
On if playing close games and rallying from behind makes the team tougher
"It definitely does make you tougher. I feel like it's a learning process. We were coming back from a tough loss the last game and we knew we had to pick it up for this game and just play the best that we could."
On what the team takes from today's win
"We just have to build on all of the things that we have started to put together. We picked up the intensity. We played harder. We found some different shots. We're starting to come together more as a team. I feel like we just need to grow from that and continue to just go out and work hard."
