Overall thoughts on the game
"I really thought the team played hard today. We played tough. We really challenged the team that the game has to start from the defense out. We started the game well defensively, did some great things and just played like the aggressor in the first half. In the second half, we lost they lead, Virginia was being very aggressive and then we kept fighting. I this was a very good game for us as far as how we responded to adversity. That was a big free throw by Tierra at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime and we didn't look back."
On her team responding after seeing its 20-point lead evaporate early in the second half
"The biggest key to this game was that we handled the adversity. We lost that lead and came back. That might be the best thing for us - to come back and take it over again and fight back. Virginia did a great job of coming back and attacking us in the second half and whittled that lead down. I was really glad our kids just played hard, stuck with it, execute and were ready to step up to that free throw line. We were aggressive, got to the free throw line and did a good job there."
On her team battling through foul trouble and injuries
"It's tough because we had to change our defenses based on the fouls. We had four players with four fouls at one time, one fouled out and Tiffany Dale was out for the game (due to injury). We just don't go that deep at the post position and we really did a nice job of rotating some other players. The nice thing is we have some big guards. Danielle Blagg and Courtnie Latham are big guards and they were able to play. It was just a great team effort all around. I thought Adesuwa played very well. It was great to see Danielle play very confidently. She got her first double-double of the year and I'm happy for both of them."
On the performance of junior guard Danielle Blagg
"She's such a good athlete. She's a big guard and wing. She played with such great intensity today. I think our break has really helped us a little bit. We were able to concentrate on some things and you can see our intensity level was a little higher today. That was great to see."
On tomorrow's game against Saint Francis (Pa.)
"My assistants have scouted them. The one thing I know is they score a lot of points and they give up a lot of points, so it really could be a shootout. Hopefully our team can stand strong against a team like that. They can really score. The shot clock is going to run down about 10 seconds and they're going to shoot it, so we're going to have to play really well. Hopefully we can establish a little inside game that we didn't really establish today. It should be a good one."
