Overall thoughts on the game
"I didn't think we could really hold them to a low number scoring and we did tonight. Our defense kept us in it and our lack of turnovers in the second half really helped. We only had three in the second half. Brett Benzio had a great night. She changed their shot, she scored and she really gave us some consistency in that second half. I thought the she had a couple of other blocks in there that were called fouls. It could have been a triple-double for her tonight."
On Tulane's defensive effort against the Lady Techsters
"There were some mismatches which went our way. They were trying to put the ball on the floor and get by Brett. Brett did a nice job of not getting beat on those. They hit those 3s there at the end, but I thought we really contained them throughout the game. They shoot 3s really well, and I felt we took that part of their game away today."
On Olivia Grayson's all-around performance
"It's good to see her back on track. She struggled a little bit in Cancun with her scoring. I thought she took better shots tonight and hit some big ones for us. With Turtle getting nine rebounds, that was really key. She gives us so much more than just her scoring."
On the two teams finishing tied with 44 rebounds each
"I think we lost a lot of those offensive rebounds in those last 10 minutes when their shots went really wide. A lot of them just tipped off our hands and went out wide. That changed that a little bit. When we needed those stops, Brett had her hands on everything. When they made a run, we got it to the point where they were one-and-done because Brett got those rebounds. It was good to have her rebounding presence in there."
On the performance of junior guard Tyria Snow
"I thought Ty did a great job. She did ran the show, especially when they were pressing at the end. I'm sure this is one that she wanted. She grew up not far from here so I'm sure this is really sweet for her."
On Tulane using the press effectively
"I was really disappointed on how many times we didn't get set. When we got set, we were really effective with it. Other times, we gave them layups because we didn't get it set up. This is something that we hope we can fix over exam week because I think this team can really press and we're pretty aggressive in the full court. We've got to make some better decisions and be a little more alert."
On getting a win in Tulane's first true road game of the year
"It's a tough trip. This whole thing is a tough trip and when you're putting it together it seems like a great idea. When you're in it like we are right now, it's like `this is tough.' Getting this first win is the key. You can go off a little adrenalin if you get the first one. If you don't get the first one, you have a little pressure on them. This team really surprises me. You go and you beat a Louisiana Tech on the road. Now, if they can go, play an SEC team on the road and do well, I think that's going to say a lot for this young squad."
On the difference between tonight and the last time the Green Wave played in Ruston in 2003
"I said today that I had a hard time seeing the clock today. Last time I was here, I saw it too clearly. That game would not end. This one would not end for a different reason because we were ahead. This was a much different experience. Again, I'm really proud of this group. It is a hard place to play and no matter what team they put on the floor, the fans are really basketball crazy here so this is good for us."
