Head Coach Lisa Stockton
Overall thoughts on the game
"We came out flat in the second half. Defensively, we really let down and we gave up 23 offensive rebounds. There was a big run to start the second half and that was hard to recover from. When you look at the last two minutes, we could have done some things differently but it all came down to the start of the second half."
On the difference in the two halves
"I felt like we came out flat and they made some really good plays. They had a banked three and the y made some very good plays in there. A lot of it came down to rebounding. They got more than one shot. If we stopped the first one, they got more than one shot. They're a big team. We knew that rebounding was going to be the key. I thought we kept them in check in the first half. In the second half, we just didn't. And we didn't shoot the ball as well in the second half."
On Auburn's early second-half run
"I felt that we had a very good scout on them. We didn't want to give Alverson the 3 and then we gave it to her. If we had executed our game plan, I thing we would have been okay. I think we just need to stick with our game play. We did in the first half. I thought the first half was probably as good of a first half as we've had all year. In the second half, it just seemed like we lost focus."
On the performance of Whitney Bibbins
"She's a difference maker. She made those broken plays and she was able to finish. For a while, she was the only one scoring for us, and she probably played too much because she was exhausted by the end. She defends and she scores. We just need to have some other offensive options."
On Tulane's second-half swoon
"I thought we came out and we just shot so well in the first half. When I looked and saw we shot 55 percent in the first half, I don't know if you plan on shooting 55 percent for the whole game. If we could have played a little better defense, I don't think we would have even had to shoot that well. I think the key to our success will be our defense. If our defense is really strong, I think we can shoot well enough to stay with anybody. But if we really lack in our defense and our rebounding, we're going to struggle."
Senior Forward Janique Kautsky
On Auburn's come-back win
"They're really athletic. They're quite big compared to us and I think you can see that on the court out there. I think it came down to knowing the scout and rebounding. They just out-rebounded us. They were more athletic, but it was an effort thing to get a body on them and they were just jumping over us."
On Auburn's ability to get offensive rebounds
"It was exactly what the coaches emphasized before the game coming in. They were really athletic and would jump over our backs. Coach Stockton said the only way we're going to win is to keep them off the offensive boards. It was tough to do that in the second half."
On what Tulane takes from this game
"I think we realized how good we can be and how good we are after the first half. We need to work on coming out in the second half to just putting our foot down. It's something we've kind of done over the last two or three years. We have to learn to have a little bit of fight in us. We can dwell on it maybe tonight but when we wake up tomorrow, we've got film and weights and we'll focus on Sunday. Hopefully this will be our only loss."
