Overall thoughts on the game
"It wasn't pretty. I think we knew this was a game that could get really ugly, and we just made a lot of mistakes. In the first half, we did some really good things. In the second half, we didn't rebound as well and didn't hit free throws, but it's good to pull out a win on the road."
On getting her 400th win with the Green Wave in her home state of North Carolina
"It kind of worked out that way, which is nice. Having my dad and my sister here was huge for me. They've been such a big part of my career and I'm very thankful. I've been at Tulane for 20 years and I've had an opportunity to coach a lot of special people, so it's good to get."
On the way her team responded to UNC-Wilmington's big push midway through the second half
"We were certainly in a situation where the game was a one-point affair and we were able to pull it out and play defense at the end. I thought we came down with some big rebounds in those last two minutes and just took care of the ball. They brought some full-court pressure and we were able to handle that pressure."
On the performance of sophomore center Chinwe Duru
"She was a go-to player for us today. With her size and strength in there, she really looked comfortable. We tried to get her the ball as much as we could. Defensively, she certainly was a presence on the other end blocking shots. She's got a tremendous amount of potential and it was good to see her play with confidence today."
On the upcoming game at North Carolina State on Sunday
"I think we're going to have to play a lot better. For us, our defense is going to have to play much better. We're going against a very good team in N.C. State. They'll have a great crowd there and it's going to be a great atmosphere. Our kids have to be really ready to step up, put these mistakes behind us and move forward."
