Head Coach Lisa Stockton
Overall thoughts on the game
"It was a slugging game. I felt that our defense was doing a great job. We held them to 18 percent in the first half. We were taking good shots but just couldn't knock them down. I don't know if that something that being so young we're going to have these inconsistencies, but I'm glad that our defense was able to hold so that we could go in with a lead."
On the performance of Brett Benzio
"We didn't do a very good job of getting her the ball in the first half, but I thought this was going to be a good game for her. When she went down, I was really hoping she could come back. I thought she could really set the temp for us in the second half. It was much better second half, but I would still like for us to be a little more patient on offense and just get some better shots."
On Tulane looking confused at times on offense
"They changed their defenses a little bit and we didn't do a very good job of adjusting. We knew what we were going to run with each defense they played, but as they changed them up it took us a few seconds each time to see what we were doing. That was probably good for us, though, to go against something that we hadn't really seen before."
On Tulane posting 50-plus rebounds for the second consecutive game
"We missed a lot of shots, so I'd like to drop those rebounds and make some more shots but 19 offensive boards is really good. We've been able to stay in games when we're shooting bad just because we're getting rebounds. Also, with them shooting 27 percent, we didn't give them a whole lot of extra opportunities. There were a lot of good things, but the nice thing is we have a lot of room to grow."
On Tulane's defensive and rebounding improvement since the season opener
"I think we came a long way in those areas. From the Loyola game to now, I thought we did a much better job of locking people down and limiting them to one shot. That was good to see. We had a little more discipline on defense and that was a real positive."
Senior Center Brett Benzio
On her first-half injury
"It's a physical game and I just got hit and rolled it a little bit. Nothing that I can't just tape up and go off of. It wasn't anything serious. I walked around during halftime and Coach let me rest so that I could get my psyche back and not have to worry about it. That's one thing is when you get injured, having to worry about it when you go back out. She let me rest it up and when I went back in I didn't even think about it."
On her success around the basket
"They played their defense a certain way where they fronted me. That left the high-low open and we just took advantage of it. It was something we read out there on the court. The coaches told us to look at it while we were preparing for them this week in defense. It was something we knew was going to be there."
On Tulane being able to handle ULM center Larrie Williams
"We knew that she was their leading scorer from last year, so we were going to key in on her. I was trying to keep the ball out of her hands. I wasn't going to let her have her way on the block. We also trapped them a little bit and took her away that way. We pretty much wanted to neutralize her and let the rest of her teammates try and score the points instead of her."
Freshman Forward Danielle Blagg
On her shot starting to fall late in the game
"I haven't been lucky these past two games, but when it did fall that first, second and even third time, it was a relief. I was like, `Okay, I'm ready to play and on my game now.'"
On her performance tonight
"I felt like I was open so I decided to take the shot. We were working on improving our shot selection so I did my best not to take bad shots. I felt that I was open so I took the shots."
On what she takes from tonight's game
"Ending with the good definitely helps. I'm going to focus on the good and just keep working on that shot."
On the team's overall effort in the win
"We were, as Coach would say, lethargic. Overall, we didn't have one of our best games. We're definitely going to have better games, including next week. We just needed to up our tempo a little bit and once that happened in the second half, we were moving better."
