Tulane Head Coach Lisa Stockton
"First of all I think Tulsa did a tremendous job. I thought they were really aggressive. In the last five or six minutes, they did a really good job of getting to the free throw line, attacking the basket and making their free throws. I'm very disappointed in our defense. I thought there were a lot of really good things we did today. We out-rebounded (Tulsa), we didn't turn the ball over a lot, and then just really did a bad job of playing defense."
On the opportunity to perhaps play in the postseason
"We feel pretty confident that we'll have another opportunity to play. I feel so bad for our seniors. I thought of Olivia Grayson, who gave everything she had today and this game was so important for her. I'm disappointed for her. I think that we go into next week and we take on whatever we've got and it's been a great season and we just need to make the most of it."
Tulsa Head Coach Matilda Mossman
"It's fun being the coach at Tulsa right now. It's fun to coach people like Taleya Mayberry and Tiffani Couisnard. We have talked with these guys a lot about leaving a program better than you found it and them leaving a legacy. That game was them wanting to leave a legacy.
"We had to fight, fight really hard, especially in the first half. Tulane was really, really good. They rebounded like crazy but we came back out in the second half and fought. This team played with a lot of heart, a lot of passion and played like we wanted to keep playing."
On second half spurt
"It better to have a second-half spurt than a first-half... I think it comes down to rebounding and moving in transition. They (Tulane) were stuck on 44 for a really long time and we weren't gaining a lot of ground, but enough. We were able to get enough rebounds at the end to hold on."
On emotions of the game
"I never felt like we lost control of the game, even when we were down 11. We just needed to keep fighting. In the first half I felt we weren't getting loose ball but in the second half I thought we did a better job."
On team balance today
"We had four people in double figures. Mariah Turner and Kadan Brady came off the bench to score in double figures. Taleya and Tiffani were in double figures. This goes back to us really playing well together as a team."
Tulsa Senior Taleya Mayberry
Where's that fight coming from
"It's been there for a long time and now that we've got an opportunity to win that first round game it just provided us with more fuel and momentum into the next game.
On leaving a legacy
At the beginning of the game coach told us it's all about leaving a program better than you found it. One thing me and Tiff (Couisnard) keyed on is to leave it better and something for the future to feed off of is what we're aiming for. This is by far the best year I've ever had and I'm just ready to play some more game."
