In defeat, Tulane falls to 22-8 on the year and will have to await its postseason fate until early next week when the respective committees announce their tournament fields.
The Green Wave are now 26-12 all-time in C-USA Championship play. The last time Tulane dropped its opening-round game in the C-USA Championship was back on March 6, 2008, when the Wave fell to Marshall, 65-58, at UCF Arena in Orlando, Fla.
The loss came as a road defeat as Tulsa is hosting the 2013 C-USA Women's Basketball Championship. Tulane is now 4-2 against the home team in conference postseason action and their only previous road loss came in the 2007 quarterfinals at SMU (86-84 in triple overtime on March 3, 2007, in Moody Coliseum).
In defeat, Tulane dropped back-to-back road games for the first time during the 2012-13 season. The last time the Green Wave fell in consecutive road contests was last year when they lost three in a row: 80-65 at UTEP on Feb. 12, 56-51 at Southern Miss on Feb. 19, and 54-49 at SMU on Feb. 26.
Senior guard Olivia Grayson scored a season-high 23 points after connecting on 7-of-14 field goals, including a 4-of-7 showing from beyond the 3-point arc. It is Grayson fifth consecutive game that she posted double-digit scoring totals, her 17th double-figure game for her during the 2012-13 season and the 76th of her career. It was also her third 20-plus point game of the year and the 13th of her career.
Grayson's four treys ties a career high set against LSU on Nov. 19, 2011, and vs. Southern on Dec. 11, 2011. Her seven made field goals, meanwhile, tied a season high and marked the fourth time she did so this year.
Sophomore forward Tiffany Dale also scored in double figures with 12 points. It was her eighth double-figure scoring game of the season and 13th of her career.
Dale also posted a double-double with 12 rebounds to go with her point total. It was her fourth double-double of the year and the fifth of her career. Her 12 rebounds tied a career high and is her fourth game with a dozen boards.
