Head Coach Lisa Stockton

Overall thoughts on the game
"I'm certainly very proud of my team today. I think we played a team today in East Carolina that has been playing very, very well over the last month and really was a very hot team coming into this tournament. They were certainly going to give us a great game. They are definitely a team that's difficult to turn around and play just because of their offenses. I thought our team did a tremendous job. We really wanted to start with our defense and make sure our half-court defense is what they had to play against today. As I just told my team, there are two things that I really liked tonight. I thought that we were tougher than we've been. I thought we played tougher than we have in the last six weeks. I think the other thing is we responded. When they made a run our young team responded. I think that's a good sign for us. I'm really, really happy with the way we played."

On Olivia Grayson's 23 points and Brett Benzio's 11 rebounds
"That is what Brett does. She does a tremendous job with that. I think that not only is Brett the rebounder, but that presence in the paint. This was one of Olivia best games; I thought her floor game, her shot selection, getting her team involved and the tempo of the game. When Olivia came out of the game, I told her she played like a first-team all-conference. I'm really proud of her performance."

On Tulane's defensive effort against the Pirates
"That's a part of our game this year that I have probably been the most pleasantly surprised with. You look at our roster and we've got 11 that are playing and five of them are freshmen. This team has played very, very well when we get our defense set. I thought that yesterday in practice we were able to go over a few things. I thought that they were really focused. It's been a long time since we've played East Carolina. We knew we had to kind of pick it up quickly. We were intense, and I think that we used our length a little bit. We have Benzio in the middle, and it does help when people drive in the paint. I thought that was going to be key today. We could just rely on our scoring but we really had to stop them."

Freshman Guard Danielle Blagg

On her shooting performance today
"It was great to finally be hitting some shots. I've not been in my best at 3-point percentages the last few games, so this was a huge game for everyone. I knew I had to come out and do something. It just so happened that my 3-point had been falling."

Junior Guard Olivia Grayson

On her overall effort against East Carolina
"I just look to create for my teammates because I know everybody is going to collect. I know that they are going to be open, and I've got people out there like Danielle who are going to hit the three and people that are going to grab the ball when I throw it up to them like Brett (Benzio) and Tiffany (Dale)."

Head Coach Heather Macy

Opening Statement
"I'm just incredibly proud of my kids and the way that we were able to finish the season strong. I hate that we couldn't send our seniors out on a little bit better of a note, but I'm really proud of the response. They have been a really fun group to coach and it's just sad to see the season end, but we want to use this for some momentum going into the off season and preparing for next year's run."

On East Carolina cutting into the deficit only to see Tulane answer each time
"I thought we had a really nice run. We cut it to seven and got that steal and weren't able to convert that steal into a score which would have cut it to a five-point basketball game. And give Tulane a ton of credit. They've got really good players and they stepped up and made shots and made plays at key moments."

On the Pirates struggling on offense at times
"We didn't shoot very well tonight. We didn't have anybody who really was stepping up and feeling it and finding spots and we were searching for a lot of different ways to see who we were going to score through tonight, and never really got a very good rhythm offensively."

On East Carolina's defensive effort
"I thought we fought at the end - and that's where some of the steals and some of the turnovers happened - but we gave them open looks and didn't do as good of a job as what we had been doing defensively, which I think is indicative of their shooting percentage. I would have liked to have seen us defend much harder and our rotations be quicker. But that gives us something to continue in the offseason as we go to build on. It got better over the course of the last two or three weeks, but today I thought we had a drop off defensively."
