Tulane Head Coach Lisa Stockton

On the difference between today's win and the loss at Tulsa two weeks ago
"I thought we played tough. I told them this was such a great team win. We had so many players go in there and play their role. On the bench, the communication was tremendous. And we had a lot of trust. I thought this was a game where we really trusted each other and gave the ball to people in position to score. SMU can rebound and we went in there with a smaller line-up and had 20 offensive boards tonight, which kept us in this game. It was just great plays...We had great plays at the end of the game keyed by our defense."

On her team playing with confidence
"You can talk about the players who scored in double figures, but you look at someone like Adesuwa (Ebomwonyi), who comes in and gives us seven rebounds and plays great defense. It was just everyone playing their role. Kaplan was 0-for-2 from the 3 when she shot that tonight. I thought we played with confidence."

On the way her team communicated throughout the game, especially late
"One of our goals was not to put them on the free throw line a lot - they were on there 13 times and were 8-of-13 - but also not to turn the ball over. We turned it over 11 times, had quite a few in the first half and really didn't turn it over at all in the second half. And again, I think our defense was very good. Keena Mays ended with 15 points, but it was a lot quieter than she normally does. She had one point at the half. When you have Olivia Grayson and Tyria Snow on the bench with two fouls in the first half, we had some other people playing a lot of minutes and they did a nice job."

On how today's win can help the team the rest of the regular season and in the upcoming C-USA Championship
"I do think when you beat a good opponent, it certainly helps give you some momentum. We still want a shot at the conference championship. We're one game out and we want a shot at it. Obviously somebody else has to help us out, but we talked about that. We talk about trying to win a championship and we've got two chances: if this happens or in the tournament. I thought our team was tremendously focused tonight."

Sophomore Guard Jamie Kaplan

Overall thoughts on the Green Wave's win
"There were a lot of ups and downs. We were up by a few points throughout the game and they came up. It was huge when they went up by six. They hit two 3s. What was really big was we didn't hang our heads. We got back with our defense. We got some steals, we got some stops and we were able to pull it out. That was huge."

On her 3-pointer with 9.9 seconds remaining
"Like Coach just said, there were 13 seconds on the clock, and maybe it was a quick shot but there was no one near me. I knew I had to shoot it."

On her game-deciding steal at the end
"I knew (SMU guard Alisha) Filmore was going to look to shoot the 3. She kind of went up for the shot and I had my arm out. Luckily, I hit the ball, they didn't call a foul and I got the steal. It was big."

On if Coach Stockton told the team anything to get them prepared for today's game
"I think we were just really focused. We prepared for this game all week and we had a certain focus about us. Even during warm-ups, I could tell we were ready for the game. I think it really helped coming in here really confident and getting the win."

On still being in contention for a C-USA championship
"We definitely still have a shot of tying for No. 1. We obviously need for SMU to lose again but if we hold up our deal and win the last two games, we definitely have a shot."
