Dear Green Wave Fans,

At long last, I am delighted to report that since we now have an operating agreement with the City of New Orleans, we can finally begin construction on Yulman Stadium. I want to give a tremendous thank you to those on the Tulane team who have spent countless hours working on the agreement, especially Yvette Jones and her team.

So let's get to work! We are about a month behind schedule but we believe we will be able to make up for lost time. In fact, the demolition phase begins today as crews start dismantling the viewing stands at the football practice field. Next month will see groundbreaking and the start of pile driving!

Still stadium-related but in a little different direction, we have begun the process of reviewing food and beverage items to be served at the stadium. Will it be raw oysters washed down with a New Orleans-based brew, or corn dogs and blue and green snoballs? This being New Orleans, I know this will be a topic of intense interest. I will keep you posted.

Besides the excitement about our new stadium, New Orleans is going crazy for football right now as we get ready for the Super Bowl and we are excited to be doing our part to support the big game. Today, we welcomed the AFC Champion Baltimore Ravens to Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. The outfield has been striped like a football field so they should feel right at home. I don't have any more inside tips for you - security is very tight and all practices are closed to the public.

Want to get in on the excitement? Purchase your raffle tickets here for a chance to win 2 tickets to the Super Bowl! Proceeds benefit our student-athletes.

The weather has been fantastic this week in New Orleans and spring is just around the corner. Baseball starts in mid-February and tennis started in the last week. And of course the basketball teams are well into their seasons. It's a great time to come out and support our student-athletes.

Roll Wave,

Rick Dickson
