Dear Green Wave Fans,
Welcome to a special Bowl Edition Wave Chat. Billy Ferrante and the staff of the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl have been wonderful hosts as we prepare to play the University of Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns Saturday night in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome at 8 p.m.
The team moved into the Hilton Riverside on Monday and has an incredible set-up. The private "players lounge" is a sight to see - pool tables, huge flat screens and video games. Our team has been treated to an incredible meal at Mr. John's Steakhouse, gone bowling, visited the WWII museum, and had a private movie screening, among other events.
We knew this incredible match-up would have a chance to set a new attendance record for this bowl, and we have done so! There are over 54,000 tickets sold, and Tulane fans have done their part. Our personal allotment is almost sold out - we have less than 500 tickets remaining and I know we can sell this out completely with your help.
If you haven't yet purchased your seats in the Tulane allotment, please do so now. There are thousands of other Tulane fans who have tickets through other avenues and we know there will be a strong showing of Tulane support Saturday night. Help us show the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl and future bowls Tulane will be represented!
We officially kick off the weekend tonight at 6 p.m. at New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood on St. Charles with a special edition of CJ's call in show. At 7:30 I invite you to sit among our band and cheerleaders on the top of three double-decker busses as we drive around NOLA playing our fight song (and perhaps gently hand beads over the side). We'll be stopping in and around the Quarter and for those who want to join us round-trip, we'll end up back at New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood at 10:30 p.m.
Friday the party continues for happy hour at Manning's on Fulton Street from 4-6 p.m. with drink and food specials. Then we'll second line over to Champions Square with the band and cheerleaders (weather permitting) for the free concert featuring Travis Tritt and the Charlie Daniels Band (being from Oklahoma, I'm looking forward to this).
Saturday the Alumni Association is hosting a brunch at the House of Blues, our men's basketball team takes on Alabama State at 2 p.m., and tailgating begins at the Dome at 4 p.m. For a full list of events and more details click here. Also, visit the Tulane Digital Bowl Guide for a preview of Saturday's contest.
Wherever you may be this holiday season (and I sincerely hope it is in the Dome Saturday night!), I wish all of you the very best and a happy and healthy 2014.
