Wave Chat

July 7, 2014

Dear Green Wave Fans,

Tulane Athletics has made amazing strides over the past nine years -- from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina to the Sept. 6 opening of our beautiful on-campus football home, Yulman Stadium. Along with this crown jewel, we also became full-members of the American Athletic Conference on July 1. With its increased competition and nationally televised games, our new conference will bring more exposure than ever to our storied athletic programs.

I am proud to have worked alongside Scott Cowen and many others during this journey. Scott never once wavered in his belief that a successful athletics program is vital to the growth and excellence of this institution.

I want to recognize another great Tulanian who has been so essential to our success, Jill Glazer. Jill, along with her wonderful husband Avie, has been a true champion of Tulane Athletics. In addition to her and Avie's personal philanthropy, Jill has volunteered countless hours and tireless energy to ensure we had the resources necessary to get to where we are today.

Under her leadership, the Helluva Hullabaloo Auction has achieved undreamed of success. What began as a single evening event grew to a yearlong celebration including online auctions and high-end raffles that have provided more than $3 million for our student-athletes.

While the online auction will continue, the annual Helluva Hullabaloo Auction and Party will go on hiatus this year while we devote all of our energy to the opening of Yulman Stadium and explore other creative ways to generate the resources necessary to allow every sport at Tulane to compete against anyone.

Thank you Jill and Avie for all you have done to move athletics, and Tulane University, forward.

As always, Roll Wave!
