Lundberg,Viljanen Reach Round Of 16 At Region III

ATHENS, Ga. - - The Tulane men's tennis team of Dennis Lundberg and Mikko Viljanen reached the round of 16 at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Region III championships.

After receiving a first-round bye, Lundberg and Viljanen teamed to post an 8-4 win over the Florida Atlantic duo of Cooper and Devreindt in the round of 32. In the round of 16, the Green Wave tandem fell to the team of Hesoun and Pousette from Kentucky by an 8-3 margin. In other doubles action, Christoph Ortner and Derya Rose posted an 8-6 decision over Alabama's McCray and Narla in the first round before falling 8-2 to the Georgia duo of Boeker and Parrott.

In singles action, Ortner, Lundberg and Rose reached the second round, while Viljanen dropped his first-round match.

The Region III tournament completes fall action for the Green Wave. The team kicks off the regular season with a February 1 contest against New Orleans at the New Orleans Lawn Tennis Center.
