Lundberg, Viljanen Capture Doubles Title

New Orleans, La. - - The Tulane men's tennis duo of Dennis Lundberg and Mikko Viljanen teamed to capture the "A" Flight doubles title at the Bill Watson Ford Tennis Invitational.

Lundberg, a senior from Falkopinj, Sweden, and Viljanen, a junior from Vantaa, Finland, teamed to post an 8-6 win over Arkansas' team of Kullenberg and Deaton in the second round. In the second round, the duo were 8-6 winners over the Ole Miss' tandem of Chada and Chuckri before posting an 8-4 win over the UAB tandem of Dalby and Jung in the semifinals. In the championship match, Lundberg and Viljanen teamed to post an 8-6 win over the Louisiana-Lafayette duo of Jordan and Biffe.

In singles action, Viljanen reached the quarterfinals of the "A" draw. He opened the tournament with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Southeastern Louisiana's Mate Lindelof before claiming a 6-4, 6-1 win over ULL's M.R. Pallares in the second round. In the quarterfinals, Viljanen dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision to eventual winner Tom Hand from LSU. Lundberg reached the finals of the "A" flight consolation draw, falling 7-6, 6-3 to Ole Miss' Alex Hartman.
