Kogan Wins Singles Title

Oct. 22, 2000

NEW ORLEANS, La. - - Freshman Michael Kogan captured the A Flight singles title of the Tulane Men's Tennis Invitational at the Goldring Tennis Complex on Sunday.

Kogan took home the title with an impressive 6-4, 6-2 win over Louisiana Lafayette's Bruno Puzzi. Puzzi had defeated Tulane senior Mikko Viljanen in the semifinals to prevent an all-Green Wave final.

In the A Flight doubles final, the Tulane tandem of Derya Rose and Mattias Westeberg nearly claimed a title of their own. The duo dropped a hard-fought 9-7 decision to Sebastian Rutka and Ryan Fisher of LSU.

The Tulane men's tennis team wraps up the 2000 Fall campaign at the Region III Rolex Championships in Athens, Ga. The competition will be held from Nov. 2-5.
