NEW ORLEANS - Men's tennis returns to Tulane's Goldring Tennis Complex as the Green Wave host the Wilson/ITA South Regional Championship Thursday through Sunday. Participants from 14 schools will take part in the 80-player tournament.

The field includes student-athletes from Alabama, Auburn, Centenary, Louisiana-Lafayette, LSU, Mississippi State, UNO, Samford, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Ole Miss, Troy, Tulane, and UAB. The draw for the tournament will be announced Wednesday evening.

"It's great to have this event here at Tulane University," head coach Mark Booras said. "The ITA had a desire to help put Tulane tennis back on the map. They love our location and we're ecstatic. This is our strongest tournament of the fall."

Four of the top 100 players in collegiate tennis will be in action at the regionals: No. 10 Saketh Myneni of Alabama, No. 54 Tim Puetz of Auburn, No. 67 Patricio Alvarado of Southern Miss and No. 83 Artem Ilyushin of Mississippi State.

The tournament will also boast members of four top 40 national doubles pairings, four student-athletes from the regional top 100 and members of four top 15 regional doubles pairings.

"The level of tennis that's going to be played is going to be great," Booras said. "It will give our guys a great opportunity to play against some elite competition right off the bat."

Play begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday, with action beginning Friday and Saturday at 8 a.m. as well. Matches will run until all day, with the final sessions getting underway at approximately 5 p.m. All six courts at Tulane's Goldring Tennis Complex will hold simultaneous matches all day long, with additional courts being utilized at the UNO University Tennis Center. Sunday's final matches will begin at 10 a.m.

"It's really going to be a great chance for our fans to come out and see some top tennis," Booras concluded, "Right in their back yard, and for free."

Tulane's Goldring Tennis Complex is located on Tulane University's campus on Ben Weiner Drive. Admission for the tournament is free.
