NEW ORLEANS - The final weekend of the regular season is upon the Tulane men's tennis team and there is no better way finish then by hosting a pair of ranked teams beginning Saturday when No. 67 Louisiana-Lafayette invades the Goldring Tennis Center for a 1 p.m. CT dual match.
The Green Wave (11-9, 3-4 C-USA) will also host No. 26 Tulsa in the regular season finale on Sunday at Noon. Tulane's lone senior, Shaye Wali, will be honored in a brief ceremony prior to the Conference USA match.
"This is going to be a great weekend," Tulane head coach Mark Booras said. "We are really excited to have two teams coming in both in the rankings and both that will be a major challenge for us, but will help us achieve our goals if we get through them."
This weekend also concludes a four-match homestand where Tulane has split the first two matches. The Green Wave fell, 4-3, to Middle Tennessee State back last Saturday before upending Xavier (NO), 6-1, on Tuesday.
ULL (13-6) has won two straight matches with a 7-0 victory at Centenary on March 31 and a 5-2 win at home over Lamar last Saturday.
"ULL has had a great year and has a really deep line-up," Booras added. "We've had some serious battles with them over the past few years. This is an in-state rival and will always be fun and we are looking forward to a great match."
Tulane is led on the courts by the doubles pair of Idan Mark and Joe Young. The duo has won 10 straight matches and owns a 20-8 overall record with a 13-5 mark in the spring. Mark is also one of three singles players with 16 overall wins. He is joined by Rodrigo Rappaccioli and Wali. Rappaccioli and Wali lead the team this spring with 10 victories each and Wali owns an 8-2 record on court three.
