Green Wave Men's Tennis Doubles Team Ranked No. 6

March 23, 2001

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The top doubles tandem for the Tulane University men's tennis team has jumped to No. 6 in the nation in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings. Freshman Michael Kogan (Kfar Saba, Israel) and senior Mikko Viljanen (Vantaa, Finland) had been ranked No. 19 before Friday's updated rankings.

In addition, to the impressive doubles rating, the Tulane team (7-7) is rated No. 39, while Kogan owns a No. 42 singles ranking.

Kogan and Viljanen have posted a perfect 10-0 mark in doubles this spring. Including the fall season, the pair are 18-3, with their last loss coming on Nov. 3. As an individual, Kogan has a 22-4 record this year, including 9-2 in spring action. Both of his losses came as he battled a wrist injury, which forced him to sit out Tulane's last match (Thursday against Tennessee).

Tulane is back in action on Wednesday, hosting No. 37 Arkansas at the Goldring Tennis Complex at 2 p.m.
