March 11, 2012

NEW ORLEANS - Looking to keep a four-match home winning streak alive, the 72nd-ranked Tulane men's tennis team returns to the courts at the Goldring Tennis Center on Monday to host Illinois State at 1 p.m. CT.

The Green Wave (6-4, 2-0 C-USA) has won the last four home matches, including a 4-3 victory over USC Upstate in the last outing on March 4.

"I'm glad that we are at our place where our confidence is growing as we move in to the second half of the season," Tulane head coach Mark Booras said. "Illinois State is a strong team with lots of experience that will be a very tough challenge for us. We will need to continue growing and maturing throughout the rest of the semester if we plan to reach out goals. Monday's match will be a great opportunity for us to accomplish that."

Illinois State (5-4), out of the Missouri Valley Conference, will be playing its first match outdoors on Monday. The match marks the first of three during a southern spring break trip.

Tulane is led by Idan Mark and Shaye Wali in singles play with five wins each this spring, while the duo of Mark and Joe Young has five doubles victories.

Skip Span leads ISU with five singles victories this spring, while Span pairs with Jusso Ojanen for two wins in doubles play.

Tulane will travel to Houston this weekend to play three dual matches beginning Friday with Iowa at 9 a.m. CT from Rice University. The Green Wave will also face Memphis on Saturday at 9 a.m. before taking on the host Owls on Sunday at Noon.
