NEW ORLEANS - Looking to remain perfect at the City Park Pepsi Tennis Center this spring, the Tulane men's tennis team hosts dual matches against Lamar and No. 27 Texas Tech on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Both matches are scheduled to start at 1 p.m. CT.
The Green Wave (3-2, 1-0 C-USA) opened the spring season with wins over Xavier and New Orleans back in late January. Most recently, Tulane defeated Conference USA rival Southern Miss, 5-2, in Hattiesburg last Sunday.
"We are excited to have a couple of tough home matches this weekend," Tulane head coach Mark Booras said. "We had a great match last weekend at Southern Miss and are looking to build on that confidence and keep going forward. The guys are growing every week and excited about getting to play a couple matches at home."
Lamar (1-6) has not won a match since opening the season with a 5-2 victory over visiting Alcorn State. Since then, the Cardinals have dropped six straight, including losses to No. 54 Rice and No. 27 Texas Tech.
Texas Tech (5-3) is coming off home wins over Wichita State and Lamar since falling to No. 27 San Diego, 4-3, and No. 10 Stanford, 5-2, in California.
Tulane is led this spring by Dominik Koepfer. The freshman is 5-0 in dual matches, including a pair of wins on courts three and four. Koepfer has also paired with senior Idan Mark to post a 4-1 doubles record on court one in leading the Green Wave to win four of the five doubles points this season.
Following this weekend, the Green Wave will travel to SMU for a Conference USA dual match next Sunday at Noon.
