NEW ORLEANS - After sweeping last weekend's season-opening double header, the 70th-ranked Tulane men's tennis team looks to remain perfect on the young dual match season when they host Troy on Saturday at Noon at the City Park Pepsi Tennis Center.
The Green Wave (2-0) not only swept the matches against Jackson State and Alcorn State on Sunday, but didn't lose a point and dropped only two sets in the matches.
Tulane's singles line-up of Dominik Koepfer (court 1), Sebastian Rey (court 2), Takuma Ohashi (court 3), Jao Chi-Shan (court 4), Alex Van Cott (court 5)and Ian Van Cott (court 6) all posted 2-0 marks last weekend, while the doubles tandems of Koepfer and Chi-Shan and Rey and Alex Van Cott also each claimed a pair of wins.
"Last weekend was a great start for us as we were able to maintain our focus and level throughout most of the matches," Tulane head coach Mark Booras said. "We need to continue building on our goal of starting well and maintaining concentration throughout the entire match. Against a team like Troy we will face many ups and downs throughout the match, so we need to take ownership of what we do and focus on doing that throughout the day."
Troy (0-4) as fallen in each of the dual matches this spring, but three of the four losses came at top 40 teams, including a 4-0 loss at No. 33 Alabama and a 7-0 loss at No. 28 Auburn.
The Green Wave will hit the road for the first time this spring when they visit No. 66 Wisconsin next Sunday at Noon CT.
