DALLAS - It came down to the final singles point, but the Tulane men's tennis team could not hold off SMU, falling to the Mustangs, 4-3, in the Conference USA dual match on Sunday afternoon at the Samuell Grand Tennis Center.

The Green Wave (4-4, 1-1 C-USA) took points in singles on courts two, three and four. Freshman Dominik Koepfer improved his record to 8-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Alex Sanders, on court three, while seniors Idan Mark and Rodrigo Rappaccioli earned wins on courts two and four, respectively.

Mark defeated SMU's Pablo Perez-Esnaola, 6-1, 7-5, while Rappaccioli got past Gaston Caudranti, 7-6, 6-1.

"This was a really good match today, unfortunately, we came up a bit short," Tulane head coach Mark Booras said. "We had chances in several different spots but weren't able to convert, but It's nice to see Dominik on a roll. When he's playing well like today it's really a treat to watch."

The deciding match came on court six with SMU's Nate Lammons defeated Takuma Ohashi, 7-6, 6-3.

SMU (3-5, 1-0 C-USA) edged Tulane for the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. The duo of Perez-Esnaola and Nate Lammons snuck out a 9-7 win over Ian Van Cott and Joe Young on court three, while Caudranti and Sanders defeated Alex Van Cott and Rappaccioli, 8-5, on court two.

"I really was quite disappointed with the way we played doubles today," Booras added. "It actually has been one of our stronger spots this year but today we didn't show it in any of the teams."
