Fall 2004: Led Tulane with a 72.2 stroke average, and a total stroke count of 1083 in the fall. Earned four top 25 finishes and tied for seventh at the Memphis Intercollegiate with rounds of 73-72-73 for a total of two-over par 218. Also led Tulane at the Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions in Knoxville, Tenn. where he tied for 12th with a one-over par 214 (70-69-75) on the par 71 Holston Hills Country Club Course. Recorded a season-low score of 67 in the first round of the fall at the Raising Cane Classic where he finished tied for 12th at two-over par 215 (67-76-72). Posted a score of four-under par 212 (73-69-70) at the University Club Intercollegiate in Baton Rouge to tie for 21st. Had seven rounds of par or lower in the fall.

2003-04: Became the first player in school history to earn All-Conference USA honors in three straight years with his second team selection in 2004. Also a first team All-Louisiana choice after tying for the Tulane team lead with a 72.9 season stroke average. Carded 13 rounds of par or better on the year and shot 75 or lower in 30 of 33 rounds. Finished in the Top 25 nine times and all 33 of his rounds counted toward the Tulane team total. Posted his lowest scores of the year in Lake Charles at the Moe O'Brien Memorial Invitational with an opening round (and season low) 68 and a 54-hole total of four-under par 212 (68-70-74) to place third. Also recorded a Top 10 finish at the First Reliance Intercollegiate in Florence, S.C. where he tied for eighth at one-over par 217 (72-75-70). The Wave's top finisher in three events during the season (SMU Stonebridge Invitational, Coca Cola Tournament of Champions, Conrad Rehling Spring Invitational) and was the squad's No. 2 golfer in the other eight events of the year. His scores in the final five events of the season ranged from four-under par (Moe O'Brien Invitational) to five over par (C-USA Championships) and he was in that range eight times overall. Wheeler's 73.2 stroke average topped the squad in the fall. Shot a low round of 70 three times during the fall. Carded a score of one-over par 217 at the Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions in Knoxville, Tenn. (71-71-75). Earned a Top 20 finish in all six spring tournaments and was in the Top 15 in each of the last five events of the season, including a tie for 15th at the Conference USA Championships with a final round of two-under par 70 (78-73-70). Totalled a score of three-under par 213 at the LSU Spring Invitational with a final round 69. Member of the Tulane Scholar-Athlete (3.0) list both semesters and was named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll. Named the Conference USA Scholar-Athlete of the Year for Men's Golf. The award is given to one student-athlete in each sport based on academic achievement, athletic achievement and service.

Summer 2003: Qualified for the United States Amateur Public Links Championship by winning the sectional tournament in Norman, Okla. Shot 66-73 to place second in the stroke play portion of the U.S. Public Links at Blue Heron Pines Golf Club in Galloway, N.J., before falling in match play. Teamed with Dayton Rose of Stillwater, Okla. to win the Amateur Public Links Team Championship out of Norman. Shot 69-66 to win the sectional qualifying tournament.

2002-03: Earned first team All-Conference USA honors for the second consecutive season. First player in school history named to back-to-back all-C-USA teams. Finished the year with a stroke average of 72.1 and each of his 34 rounds counted toward the team score. Posted five top 10 finishes and placed in the top 15 eight times. Top Green Wave golfer in 10 of 12 tourneys on the year. Finished in the top 25 in every tournament (12 total) as a sophomore. Shot a score of par or below 18 times, and had five rounds in the 60s. All five of his 54-hole scores were between 212-218 for the fall as he did not shoot more than two-over par for any event. Earned Conference USA co-Golfer of the Month honors for February after winning the Beau Chene Collegiate Classic and tying for eighth at the LSU Spring Invitational. Carded a career-low seven-under par 65 in the first round of the Beau Chene event and followed that with rounds of 70 and 69 to win his first collegiate tournament by two strokes (12-under 204). Also selected College Golfer of the Week by Golf World Magazine following the Beau Chene win. At LSU, shot even par 216 (72-73-71). Narrowly missed a second title after placing second at the Methodist Sportscare/Bob Brown Invitational with rounds of 67 and 75. Other top 10 placings came at the USA Fall Beach Invitational where his second round 66 propelled him to a tie for eighth at four-under 212, and at the Cardinal Intercollegiate, where he tied for 10th at two-under 214 (69-74-71). Made the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll for the second consecutive season.

2001-02: Became first Tulane men's golfer to earn first team All-Conference honors since 1996. Only the second Green Wave player ever named first team All-Conference USA. Also made the All-Louisiana first team. Top golfer on the Tulane team as a freshman with a 73.5 scoring average in 31 rounds. Notched four top 10 finishes and placed in the Top 25 eight times. Finished in the Top 40 in nine of 10 tournaments. Led Tulane in six tournaments, including the C-USA Championships, where he finished tied for seventh with a 215 (68-76-71). Shot a season-low round of four-under 68 in the first round of C-USA's. Carded a 69 at the UCF/Rio Pinar Intercollegiate. Posted 12 rounds of par or better and 20 of 74 or lower. Got hot at the end of the season with scores of even par 213 (73-70-70) at the Cleveland Golf Collegiate Championships, two-over 218 at the Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate (74-71-73) and one-under par 215 at the C-USA championship. Earned three Top 15 finishes in the fall, including a sixth-place tie at the Hillman Robbins Intercollegiate. Placed in the top 15 in four spring tournaments and was in the top 10 three times during the spring season. Named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll for 2001-2002 with a cumulative g.p.a. above 3.0. Also a Tulane Scholar-Athlete for Spring both semesters.

Prep: Two-time AJGA All-American who posted three top five finishes and a pair of top 10 placings in the summer of 2001. Individual and team champion of the AJGA Justin Leonard Team Championship. Had one top five finish, one top 10 placing and was in the top 15 at the Rolex Tournament of Champions in 2000. In AJGA action, played in the Polo Junior Golf Championships, a pair of Rolex Tournament of Champions events and the Thunderbird International. Four-time all-district choice who posted a scoring average of 73.1 his senior season. All-State and all-region selection as a junior after winning the 2000 Region II high school tournament, shooting two-under par 70 in the final round. Won six tournaments in his prep career. Top score was a 141 (73-68) at a tournament in Ardmore, Okla. Four-year letterwinner. Qualified for his school's Academic Honor Roll and was nominated to the National Honor Society.
