NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane football team continued preparations for the 2013 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl this afternoon with its first official bowl practice at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
The Green Wave returned to the Superdome for the first time since playing its final home game of the 2013 regular season against UTEP on Nov. 23, a 45-3 Tulane victory. The team went through a spirited two-hour practice and was expected to take in a movie tonight.
With the scripts and game plans completed, Tulane worked on schemes and fundamentals. Green Wave players also spent the day in meetings and completing finals on the last day of final exams for Tulane students.
TU will return to the practice field on Wednesday morning at the Superdome and then will attend an R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl-sponsored activity on Wednesday evening.
"The New Orleans Bowl has done a great job of organizing all of our events and the hotel accommodations are fabulous," Tulane head coach Curtis Johnson said. "We did our regular play-action and drop back stuff today and we'll get into red zone and goal line a little later in the week, but we are sticking to our routine. Nothing has changed."
Johnson will lead Tulane into action against the University of Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 8 p.m. in the Superdome. The game will be broadcast live nationally on television on ESPN and will air locally on WMTI 106.1 FM `The Ticket" and nationally on ESPN Radio.
Tickets for the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl are $40 and $60 each and will be located on the west side of the Superdome behind the Tulane bench. The first 1,000 fans to purchase their tickets will receive a commemorative bowl T-shirt and a ticket to the men's basketball game on Dec. 21 and Dec. 22.
