NEW ORLEANS - Tulane cornerback Lorenzo Doss continues to reap the fruits of his labor as the sophomore received a trio of awards today, including second team All-America honors from Sports Illustrated, while both SB Nation and College Sports Madness each tabbed Doss their Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year for 2013.

Doss, who was also named a Walter Camp Second Team All-America selection last Thursday, has now collected multiple All-America honors on the year. Along with Doss, Tulane now boasts three All-Americans on its current roster, including senior Cairo Santos, who was a consensus first team All-America honoree last year, and Sam Scofield, who was named to the Capital One Academic All-America® Division I football second team this season.

A native New Orleanian who prepped at St. Augustine High School, Doss leads the team and ranks second nationally with seven interceptions, including two returns for touchdowns, and passes defended with nine. In just 24 career games, Doss has quickly grabbed 12 interceptions and already ranks 11th among the NCAA's active career leaders.

Doss was named to the All-Conference USA First Team just one season after he was selected to the 2012 C-USA All-Freshman Team. He has started all 12 games in 2013 and sits third in pass break-ups, 10th with 32 tackles (23 solo) to go with 1.5 tackles for loss and has one fumble recovery.

His seven interceptions ranks sixth in Tulane single-season history and his 26.4 yards per interception return sits seventh. Doss leads C-USA in interceptions per game (0.6) and is tied for second in passes defended per game (1.3).

Doss was named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week and Jim Thorpe Award Defensive Back of the Week after he picked off two passes, including one returned 59 yards for a touchdown, to go with three tackles (two solo) against North Texas on Oct. 5. He also returned an interception 69 yards for a touchdown and had a fumble recovery and return of 31 yards while posting four tackles at FAU on Nov. 2.

Doss and the Green Wave will conclude its season against the University of Louisiana-Lafayette in the 2013 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 8 p.m. CST. The game will be broadcast live nationally on ESPN and will also be aired around the country on ESPN Radio and locally on WMTI FM 106.1 "The Ticket."
