NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane football team continued its preparations for the upcoming 2013 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl on Monday by making the short 10-minute commute downtown to the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel, its bowl headquarters for the next five days, and also spent several hours touring the National World War II Museum.
Tulane will play in its first bowl game in 11 years on Saturday, Dec. 21 when it battles fellow in-state school, the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, at 8 p.m. in the Superdome. The game will be broadcast live nationally on television on ESPN and will air locally on WMTI 106.1 FM `The Ticket" and nationally on ESPN Radio.
Today, the Green Wave departed the James W. Wilson Jr. Center via a police escort and arrived at its new home with a warm reception that included R+L Carrier New Orleans Bowl beads, a brass band and bowl representatives.
Tulane then made another short trip to the National World War II Museum and spent a little over two hours touring the different buildings and watching Beyond All Boundaries, a short 4-Dfilm depicting the battles of World War II.
The Green Wave returns to the very friendly confines of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, its home field for the last 38 years, on Tuesday for its first of four bowl practices this week.
Tickets for the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl are $40 and $60 each and will be located on the west side of the Superdome behind the Tulane bench. The first 1,000 fans to purchase their tickets will receive a commemorative bowl T-shirt and a ticket to the men's basketball game on Dec. 21 and Dec. 22.
