NEW ORLEANS-Tulane running back André Anderson was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team, C-USA announced today. In order to be considered for the honor, a student-athlete must have a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and be a starter or key reserve on the football team. Anderson, a Computer Information Science major, has earned a 3.43 grade point average. He also led the conference in rushing yards per game with 123.43, earning him a ranking of eight nationally, before he sustained a season-ending injury in Week 8 action against Rice.

A candidate for the 2008 Doak Walker Award, Anderson was also 24th in the nation and fifth in C-USA for all-purpose yards per contest (152.29) prior to his injury. He has rushed for 100 or more yards in four games and owns two of the nation's top 20 rushing performances this season with 255 yards at UTEP (9th) and 219 yards vs. SMU (18th).

For the Green Wave this season, Anderson started seven games and rushed for a team-best 864 yards and seven touchdowns on 174 carries (5.0 ypc), and he ranked third on the team for receptions (25), third in receiving yards (202) and had one catch for a touchdown.

Joining Anderson on the All-Academic Team is Jake Ebner (Houston), Case Keenum (Houston), Matt Altobello (Marshall), Brandon Patterson (Memphis), Brandon Pearce (Memphis), James Casey (Rice), Andrew Sendejo (Rice), Mitch Enright (SMU), Pete Fleps (SMU), Austin Davis (Southern Miss), Moton Hopkins (Tulsa), David Johnson (Tulsa), Cameron Raschke (UTEP).
