NEW ORLEANS, La. - Junior running back Matt Forté, sophomore linebacker Evan Lee and freshman cornerback Alex Wacha were named Tulane Football's Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively, Green Wave head coach Chris Scelfo announced Monday.

The honor was the first of the season for Wacha while Forté and Lee claimed the recognition for the second time in 2006. Forté earned the distinction on Oct. 9 for his performance against Rice while Lee claimed the honor on Oct. 23 for his outing against Auburn.

Forté compiled 141 all-purpose yards against the Thundering Herd on Saturday, running for 61 yards and two touchdowns while hauling in five passes for 80 yards. He was well on his way to a fifth-straight 100-yard outing, but suffered an injury in the third quarter and did not return. Forté's health will be evaluated by the Tulane training staff as the week progresses and his status for Saturday's home game against Southern Miss will be announced as game time approaches.

Lee posted six tackles, including two solo stops, and had a half a tackle for loss. He also posted his first career interception with a pick in the third quarter.

Wacha, meanwhile, played on almost every Green Wave special teams unit and posted a solo stop on a kickoff return in the third quarter. His play helped Tulane net two punts over 50 yards, down a pair of punts inside the Marshall 20 yard line and force a fair catch. He finished the day with four total tackles.

Forté, Lee, Wacha and the Green Wave return to action on Saturday, Nov. 11, when they take on Conference USA foe Southern Miss at 1 p.m. in the Louisiana Superdome. The game against the Golden Eagles is the first of a two-game homestand to end the home portion of the 2006 season as Tulane will play host to league foe UCF on Nov. 18.

Tickets for those game, and future Green Wave contests, remain for sale through the Tulane Athletics Ticket Office. The Ticket Office is located on the first floor of the James W. Wilson, Jr. Center, and tickets can be purchased in person, via the telephone at (504) 861-WAVE or via the internet at www.TulaneGreenWave.com. In addition, single-game tickets are also available via Ticket Master at www.TicketMaster.com and at all Ticket Master outlets.
