CHICAGO - Tulane kicker Seth Marler was named Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Marler, a 6-foot-2, 170-pound freshman from Lilburn, Ga., was 4-of-4 on field goal attempts in Saturday's 48-32 win over Louisiana-Lafayette, connecting from 46, 28, 27 and 37 yards. Marler, who hit all four of his PAT attempts in the win, has made his last six field goal attempts, including two of more than 45 yards.
On the season, Marler has connected on 12-of-16 field goal attempts and leads the Green Wave in scoring with 55 points.
It is the first time that Marler has been recognized by the Conference USA office. Since 1996, 25 Tulane players have earned Conference USA Player of the Week accolades.
The Tulane football team (3-3, 1-1 C-USA) will next be in action on Saturday, Oct. 23, as the squad takes on No. 20 East Carolina in Greenville, N.C. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. (CDT) and will be televised on Fox Sports Net South.
