NEW ORLEANS -- Tulane's Oct. 14 Homecoming game versus #17-ranked Southern Miss will be televised nationally by Fox Sports Net as part of a Conference USA doubleheader that day, league officials confirmed Thursday. Tulane and Southern Miss will lead off the network's C-USA coverage with kickoff moved to 11 a.m. (CDT) in the Louisiana Superdome.
This is the first time this season that Tulane has been selected for the Conference USA broadcast, although it is the fourth time this season that a Green Wave game has been televised. Last year's Tulane-Southern Miss contest was also televised by Fox Sports Net. That was the Green Wave's only C-USA selection a year ago. Tulane's game at Army on October 21 has already been selected for a Fox Sports Net broadcast beginning at 11 a.m. Central Time.
The renewed Tulane tradition of tailgating, which attracted more than 1,500 fans at the Green Wave's home opener versus Cincinnati on September 30, will feature a breakfast theme for the early kickoff. The "Wake Up with the Wave" tailgating activities will begin at 8:30 a.m. outside of Gate G at the Superdome with face painters, games for the kids and a planned special appearance by the Tulane men's and women's basketball teams on their first day of practice for the 2000-01 season.
