Tulane Athletics Readies for Tropical Storm Isidore
Sept. 25, 2002 NEW ORLEANS -- In preparation for Tropical Storm Isidore, which is expected to make landfall near New Orleans late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning, Tulane Athletics has made the following adjustments to its practice plans and game schedules: Tulane's Athletic Ticket Office will be closed most of the day on Thursday, Sept. 26 as the brunt of the storm will hit the area on that day. Individuals who wish to purchase tickets to the Tulane-Texas football game on Saturday, Sept. 28 can do so on the internet at www.TulaneGreenWave.com or www.ticketmaster.com, or by calling Ticketmaster at 504-522-5555 (in Louisiana) or 1-800-488-5252 (outside of Louisiana). The Tulane football team will bunk as a group Wednesday night at Tulane's Reily Center, the Student Recreation Center on campus, in order to assure that injured players can access the Wilson Center for treatment and so that players will not be stranded by high water or street flooding near their off-campus apartments or homes. The team practiced at the Louisiana Superdome Wednesday afternoon. Plans for Thursday's workouts are dependent on weather conditions on that day. The Kathy Trosclair Memorial Volleyball Tournament scheduled for Saturday, featuring matches between Tulane, Centenary and Saint Louis, was cancelled. Tulane and Centenary will now play a doubleheader on Oct. 15. Tulane will play host to Saint Louis in a Conference USA match on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 2 p.m. at Fogelman Arena. The Green Wave soccer team, which was scheduled to fly out of town Thursday afternoon for weekend matches at Marquette and DePaul, instead left on a 5 am flight Wednesday. The Tulane men's and women's cross country teams will not compete in the LSU Invitational meet this Saturday in Baton Rouge. A meet will be added to the 2002 schedule next week to compensate for the lost competition day. As classes at Tulane University were cancelled beginning Tuesday at 2 p.m., Green Wave student-athletes who were not in season or required to be in town for competition were encouraged to go home or make arrangements to go home with friends or teammates. Each of Tulane's coaches made direct contact with all of their student-athletes to ensure their safety and communicate their location during the next few days. If the storm moves through Thursday as predicted, the Tulane football game versus No. 3 ranked Texas will kickoff as planned in the Superdome on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 2:30 p.m.
Fans are urged to come back often to www.TulaneGreenWave.com for all the latest news on Tulane Athletics competitions and for the Ticket Office schedule.
