Sept. 18, 2008

It's been a while since my last post and boy have plenty of things happened. We made it completely safe and sound through Gustav, Ike, and what not. We have played two top fifteen teams in the country. Most importantly, we have not recorded our first "w" although playing two very physical complete games. This is frustrating. Everyone can obviously see that we have improved over the course of the year and are capable of being a successful football team. We just have to put it all together.

Let's start with the Alabama game. We went in with an effective game plan, executed it fairly well, and handled the tough environment. This however did not merrit a victory due to lapses at crucial times in the game. The same can be said about the East Carolina game. The team is starting to really see what we are capable of. It is no longer a story of "just think about what we could have done" or "if only we had..." In the past the team had hoped it would do better. Guys now realize what opportunities have already been wasted and lost through the first two games and expect to do better in our next games. This attitude is contagious amongst the team and is a great feeling out on the field and in the lockeroom to see such a change.

I also want to send a special shout out to our student section at this past game. That was by far the best, biggest, and most into the game I have ever seen our student section. There are a lot of things that transpire throughout the course of the game, but to look up and know that for so long we have had barely any students at our game and now see how many came out to support us, it is a special feeling. Thank you so much and please do not let it be a one shot deal. We'll win games and keep our end of the agreement, you just keep showing up.
