New Orleans - Tulane Athletics will open bowl season in style with its Bowl Weekend Kickoff Party this Thursday, Dec. 19 at New Orleans Hamburger & Seafood (4141 St. Charles Ave.) with the Curtis Johnson Radio Show presented by Cajun Injector, and will follow with the Wave Bowl Stroll. The radio show will be live from 6-7 p.m. on the flagship station for Tulane football, WMTI FM 106.1 "The Ticket."
The event will begin at 6 p.m. with a special edition radio call-in show with Johnson, who will be on from 6-6:30 p.m. and R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl Executive Director Billy Ferrante from 6:30-7 p.m.
The show is free for fans, and those wearing green will get a special discount off their entire meal.
Following the radio show, fans can join the "Wave Bowl Stroll" along with the Tulane Marching Band and cheerleaders through the French Quarter on double-decker buses. The buses will leave at approximately 7:30 p.m. from the restaurant, and will return at 10:30 p.m. Wristbands will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis beginning at 5:45 at the restaurant for the bus ride. Only those with wristbands are guaranteed a seat on the buses.
The radio show will feature a call-in format for fans. Fans will also be able to ask questions via email and Twitter. Tulane's second-year head coach will answer selected questions.
The Green Wave will conclude its season against the University of Louisiana-Lafayette in the 2013 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 8 p.m. CST. The game will be broadcast live nationally on ESPN and will also be aired around the country on ESPN Radio and locally on WMTI FM 106.1 "The Ticket."
Tickets for the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl are $40 and $60 each and will be located on the west side of the Superdome behind the Tulane bench. The first 1,000 fans to purchase their tickets will receive a commemorative bowl T-shirt and a ticket to the men's basketball game on Dec. 21 and Dec. 22.
