"Unite" For Football Opener vs. Rutgers
The Tulane Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is encouraging all Green Wave fans to come together and welcome a new era of Tulane Football on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012 at 7 p.m. in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome as the Green Wave kickoffs the "Unite" campaign.

NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is encouraging all Green Wave fans to come together and welcome a new era of Tulane Football on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012 at 7 p.m. in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome as the Green Wave kickoffs the "Unite" campaign.

Tulane Athletics is calling on all Tulane fans to "Unite" and welcome first-year head football head coach Curtis Johnson in his first game with the Olive and Blue against Rutgers.

The Green Wave opens the 2012 season against the Scarlet Knights in a nationally-televised game on CBS Sports Network and, as with every game, will be aired on the Tulane IMG Radio Network (WIST-AM 690 in the New Orleans area).

To enhance the Green Wave atmosphere the first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a free State of Tulane "Unite" rally towel. Towels will be given out at each of the main entrances at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

As part of the Tulane "Unite" campaign for the home opener, Tulane Athletics will be utilizing the world class Champions Square for the official Tulane Athletics tailgate village. Champions Square is a 121,000 square foot outdoor festival venue that will be open to the public at 3 p.m. and will feature food and beverages, inflatables and live music for all Green Wave Fans.

Ticket holders are encouraged to park in Garage 2 for the evening to have closer proximity to the festivities in Champions Square. TU fans will catch a glimpse and wish the team good luck on their way into the dome as the Green Wave team will walk through Champions Square on their way into the Dome.

The State of Tulane "Unite" campaign will also encourage fans to "Unite" on social media as well. Tulane Athletics is recommending all fans to use the hashtag #TUnite in any message relating to Tulane football leading up the Rutgers game.

Any Twitter user that uses the hashtag# TUnite will be entered into a random prize drawing for four sideline tickets to the Ole Miss game on Sept. 22. Each time the TUnite #hashtag is used, that twitter address will be entered into the drawing. The winner will be notified via twitter during the Rutgers game.
