NEW ORLEANS -- Quarterback J.P. Losman threw for 192 yards and directed two scoring drives as the Green team earned a 28-3 win over the White in Tulane's annual Spring Football Game Saturday afternoon.

"We are a lot further along at this point than we were a year ago," said head coach Chris Scelfo. "I am excited about where we are right now and I know that we'll continue to get better as a team."

Losman led the Green to a pair of second half scores that pushed the 14-3 halftime lead to the 28-3 final score. The first drive, capped by a one-yard run by Mike Truax, was set up by a 45-yard pass from Losman to running back Brant Hocke.

The game's final touchdown was scored on a 77-yard pass from Losman to Zander Robinson. On the day, Losman completed 12-of-21 passes for 192 yards and one touchdown.

Fellow quarterback Patrick Ramsey also looked sharp in a limited role, playing the first two series of each half. Ramsey, who completed 5-of-9 passes for 47 yards and one touchdown, also directed two scoring drives. Ramsey's 18-yard pass to Terrell Harris opened the scoring early in the first half.

The Green team pushed the lead to 14-0 early in the second quarter as Truax scored again from a yard out. Truax, a converted tight end, rushed for 15 yards on five carries to go with two scores. His second TD was set up by a 29-yard scamper by Hocke, who finished the day with nearly 100 yards of total offense. Hocke tallied 37 rushing yards on four carries and 60 receiving yards on three catches.

The only score the White could muster was a 42-yard field goal by Seth Marler in the second quarter. Brent Brothers led the White squad, made up mostly by the second string, by completing 6-of-12 passes for 40 yards.

"I was pleased with our running game today," said Scelfo. "That's something we've worked hard on this spring. I also think that our defense has a very good understanding of what we're trying to accomplish. We have to continue to improve defensively for us to be a good football team."

Tulane continues spring practice through April 3. The Green Wave will open the 2000 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 2 at Ole Miss.
