New Orleans - With half of its spring practices already in the books, Tulane went back to the beginning of its installments on offense and added a new wrinkle on defense today during its eighth practice of the spring at the Saints Indoor Practice Facility in Metairie.

In a two-hour workout, the Tulane offense went back to the beginning of its installments from the first practice and started over in order to fine tune the plays, schemes and calls that have been put in over the course of the first seven practices.

On defense, TU coaches added a new look with a 3-4 alignment for the first time with the current group of defenders. With the exception of certain games, the Wave ran a 4-3 scheme for the majority of the 2013 campaign.

Tulane running backs looked sharp throughout the morning with junior Josh Rounds, redshirt sophomore Lazedrick Thompson and redshirt freshman Sherman Badie each turning in strong runs on the day, both up the middle and around the corners.

With the offense regurgitating previous practice reps, the Wave defense spent the morning in learning situations. However, that didn't stop TU All-American cornerback Lorenzo Doss from picking off a pair of passes on the day to lead the TU defense.

"We did a little more 3-4 alignment with the defense today and I think it worked well, but we didn't looked as sharp as we needed to," Tulane head coach Curtis Johnson said. "But on the other hand, the offense looked really good and really won today's practice. The defense came up with a few turnovers at the end but this was the offense's day. We went back to our first install on offense and that group didn't miss a beat, which is really good to see."

The Green Wave returns to the Saints Practice Facility on Wednesday, Feb. 21 for practice No. 9.
