Tulane head coach Curtis Johnson and the Green Wave will play their final season in Conference USA and in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

NEW ORLEANS - Tulane's 2013 football schedule will feature contests against six 2012 bowl teams, six home games and a trip to New York to battle Syracuse. These games highlight the 2013 schedule announced today by TU Director of Athletics Rick Dickson.
The Tulane football team will set sail on a historical season in 2013 that will feature several milestones, including the Green Wave's final campaign as a Conference USA member and its final season in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. TU is set to become a member of the Big East Conference, beginning with the 2014-15 season.
The Superdome has been home to Tulane football since it opened in 1975 and the Wave will play its 39th and final season in the `dome in 2013. Next season, TU will move into its new on-campus, state-of-the-art facility, Yulman Stadium, which will mark its first game on campus in 40 years.
Tulane will have its hands full with six teams that was eligible to participate in postseason play last season come calling, including Louisiana Tech (did not play in a bowl but was bowl eligible), Syracuse (New Era Pinstripe), UL-Monroe (AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl), 2012 C-USA Champion Tulsa (AutoZone Liberty Bowl), Rice (Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl) and East Carolina (R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl).
The 2013 slate will also feature new C-USA members in Louisiana Tech, North Texas, University of Texas-San Antonio (UTSA) and Florida Atlantic University (FAU), and the Wave will face five first-time match-ups against Jackson State, South Alabama, FAU, UTSA and North Texas.
"This is going to be a season full of milestones for our football program with our final season in Conference USA and playing in the Superdome and I feel this schedule is very balanced and gives us a chance to be successful," Tulane head coach Curtis Johnson said. "This schedule will certainly challenge us but I like the team we have coming back and fully believe we have a chance to become a bowl team by the end of the year."
Tulane will open its 119th football season on Aug. 31 with a first-time match-up against Jackson State at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The contest will mark the Wave's first season opener during the month of August since 2002 when TU began the year at home against Southern.
The Green Wave remains at home in week two against another first time opponent, South Alabama, on Sept. 7, and it marks the second time since 2011 that Tulane has played its first two games at home.
The Wave will open its final season of C-USA play on the road at Louisiana Tech on Sept. 14, and the game will mark the first of three straight contests away from home for TU. Tulane and Louisiana Tech last met during the Green Wave's memorable undefeated season of 1998 and TU owns a perfect 7-0 record against the Bulldogs. This year's contest will mark Tulane's first-ever trip to Ruston to face the Bulldogs. The teams first met in New Orleans in 1904.
TU makes its longest trip of the year to Syracuse, N.Y., to face the Orange on Sept. 21 in the Carrier Dome. The two teams will meet for the ninth time, including the second time in the past three seasons. Tulane hosted Syracuse at the Superdome in 2011. This year's contest will mark TU's first trip to the Carrier Dome since 1999.
Tulane will conclude the three-game road swing at UL-Monroe to close the month of September. The Green Wave will make its second journey in a three-week period to northern Louisiana on Sept. 28 to battle the Warhawks in Monroe. TU leads the series, 2-1, and will make its first appearance at ULM since 2002 when the Wave came away with a 52-9 victory.
The Green Wave will have the luxury of spending the entire month of October at home, beginning with back-to-back games at the Superdome against North Texas on Oct. 5 and East Carolina on Oct. 12. Tulane will host the Mean Green in the first meeting between the schools on the gridiron, while the Pirates will make the trek to New Orleans for the second straight year to face the Wave.
Following a bye on Oct. 19, Tulane will face a big test when it hosts Tulsa on Oct. 26 to close out the month. The 2013 contest will mark the 10th all-time meeting between the schools.
The Green Wave opens the month of November with consecutive road games, starting with FAU in a first time meeting on Nov. 2 in Boca Raton, Fla., and TU will face another first-time opponent the following weekend at UTSA in San Antonio, Texas, on Nov. 9.
Tulane will have its second bye of the season on Nov. 16 and returns the following week to close the chapter on another significant era in Green Wave football history with the final game for Tulane in the Superdome. TU will honor its senior class and take the field at one of New Orleans' iconic sites for the final time when the Wave hosts UTEP on Nov. 23. The Green Wave and Miners will meet for the ninth straight season.
One week later, TU will play its final regular season game as a C-USA member when it makes the short trip to Houston to battle Rice on Nov. 30. The Wave and the Owls have met in nearly every decade since the first meeting in 1916 (did not meet in the 1950s) and have faced each other in each of the last nine years as C-USA rivals.
