SMU 45, Tulane 24
Tulane Game 10
Gerald J. Ford Stadium
Dallas, Texas

Interim Head Coach Mark Hutson

Overall thoughts on the game
"SMU had struggled the past two weeks and they came out hot. Defensively, we couldn't get them off the field. They converted their third downs and we didn't even make them punt. Their tailback rushed for over 100 yards and offensively we were able to make one or two runs, but we couldn't convert our third down opportunities. Give their defense and offense credit, both sides executed."

On the Green Wave's second-half come-back attempt
"We came together in the second half and I thought our coaches did a good job of rallying our players. We called them up and told them we had too much character and too much pride for this. Thirty-one to nothing is not who we are. We wanted them to go out, not look at the scoreboard and take the second half play by play and just battle. I'm disappointed with the first half, but proud of our effort in the second half. The game could have really gotten away from us in the second half, but we went out and competed. We cut it to a two-score game and when we going down and Ryan scrambled for the first down we thought we could eventually make it a one score game and make things very interesting."

Junior Quarterback Ryan Griffin

On the difference between the first and second halves
"We really didn't make many adjustments at halftime. We just looked at each other man-to-man and asked each other if this was the best we could do and as a collective group we decided the first half was not what this team is all about and not how we want to be represented. We played a lot better in the second half and I thought we did a good job of getting back into the game."

On his fumble in the fourth quarter
"We had four hitches called and SMU did a good job of covering up our receivers so I decided to run for the first down and I dove and thought I had the first down, but I guess I wasn't down. I just wish I would have hung on to the ball."

Junior Middle Linebacker Trent Mackey

Overall thoughts on the game
"SMU came out and ran the ball very well against us in the first half. It took us a while to get a feel for what they were doing and they put up a lot of points. In the second half, we came out and I was able to catch on to their checks and we adjusted well and played a lot better. We just needed to play that well in the first half and we didn't."
