Finance and Marketing

2004: Started all 11 games at center for the Green Wave. Graded out at 81 percent on 700 plays with 14 knockdown blocks. Top performances came against TCU (11/27), UAB (10/23), Army (11/13) and Florida A&M (9/11). Tulane running backs totaled three 100-yard days on the season while quarterbacks were sacked just 24 times in 11 games. A CoSIDA Academic All-District first team selection.

2003: Started all 12 games, 11 at center and one at right guard. Named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District VI Second Team. Had a trio of games in which he graded out at 80 percent or better, including a season-best of 86 percent against Houston (10/11). Tulane offense posted its fourth-best season in school history with seven 100-yard games by TU backs.

2002: Saw action in five games as a back-up offensive lineman. Graded out at 88 percent for 28 plays. Backed up his twin brother, Matt.

2001: Redshirted the season.

HIGH SCHOOL: Second-team Class 6A All-State choice as a senior. Also earned second team All-Dade County honors. Three-year starter at tackle and team captain as a senior for Coach Joe Montoya. Collected 22 pancake blocks as a senior. Coral Gables fielded the No. 1 offense in Dade County in both 1999 and 2000. His senior year, the Cavaliers totaled more than 3,000 rushing yards and 1,400 passing yards and scored 51 touchdowns. In 1999, CGHS had more than 1,600 rushing and 1,500 passing yards. Team qualified for the state playoffs in both 1999 and 2000.

PERSONAL: Full name is Joseph Samuel Traina. Born December 29, 1982 in Miami, Fla. The son of Sam and Lorraine Traina. The "younger" brother of Matt, his twin, who also plays for the Wave. National Honor Society member who graduated in the top seven percent of his high school class. Earned his bachelor's degree in finance and is currently working on his master's in accounting. Selected to the C-USA Commisioner's Honor Roll for each of his first four seasons with the Wave and was awarded the C-USA Academic Medal for 2003-04 and 2004-05 with a cumulative GPA above 3.75.
