2001: Punted five times for a 39.2-yard average at Navy as field position dictated shorter kicks. Late in the game, pinned Navy inside its 10 with a 41-yard kick. Averaging 43.1 yards on 55 punts this season. Nearly 20 percent of his punts (10) have pinned opponents inside their 20. Kicked seven times for 317 yards, a 45.3-yard average, versus Louisville. Booted his eighth 50-plus yard punt of the year and did not have a kick of less than 41 yards while setting two down inside the 20. Had his busiest day of the season at UAB, punting eight times for a 44.1-yard average. Has hit season-long 58-yard punts at UAB, ECU and BYU. Tied his season-long with a 58-yard punt. 50-yard punts include a 54-yarder versus Southern and a 55-yard kick in the UCF game. Filled kickoff duties at West Point. Top average day came versus East Carolina with four punts for 49.5 yards. Averaged 45 yards or more in four games. None of his four punts versus LSU were returned and just one of his six punts in the UCF game was brought back. Recorded punts of 56 and 53 yards versus the Tigers. In the BYU game, averaged 47 yards on seven punts. Named the Wave's special teams player of the game. Career average of 44 yards per punt will break the Tulane school record by nearly three yards. Ranks seventh on the career charts for career punts (169) and fourth in punting yards (7,214). Also serves as the back-up kicker and does an excellent job as the Green Wave's holder on placekicks.
2000: Earned First Team All-Conference USA honors. Tabbed as a Third Team All-American by The Sporting News. Ranked sixth nationally and led Conference USA in punting with a 44.22-yard average, which is the third-best single-season mark in school history. Just 26 of his 59 punts were returned, with 13 downed inside the 20. Had 17 punts of 50+ yards and five that traveled more than 60 yards. Tied the Superdome record with a 72-yard punt versus USM (10/14). Averaged 50.8 yards on four punts at SMU (9/23), which would have been enough to break the school record for per game average with one more kick. Named C-USA Co-Special Teams Player of the Week following the SMU game.
1999: Kicked 55 times and averaged 44.16 yards per punt (fourth-best single-season mark). Posted a long punt of 83 yards against East Carolina (10/23) - the second-longest punt in school history. Booted 12 punts of 50 or more yards and had 10 punts downed inside the 20. Put in a yeoman's effort vs. East Carolina (10/23), punting the ball 11 times for a 48.8 yard average.
1998: Served as the backup to senior kickers Brad Hill and Brad Palazzo.
HIGH SCHOOL: A graduate of St. Charles High School in Paulina, La. Earned all-metro and Class 2A all-state honors as a senior, when he averaged 41.3 yards per punt. Also had eight field goals, including a 55-yarder, and 30 PATs. A three-year starter, he was coached by Wayde Keiser.
PERSONAL: Casey Daniel Roussel. Born October 28, 1979. The son of Brenda and Robert Roussel. Majoring in organizational information technology. A member of Tulane's 3.0 Academic Club for the fall of 2000.
